To disseminate the importance of environment to the students, eco-competitions among the NGC students in three disciplines of quiz, elocution and drawing for two sections viz., students up to 8th standard and above 8th standard in all the Revenue districts have been conducted at a cost of Rs.64.00 lakh (Rs.2.00 lakh /district) during 2018-2019. Besides, prizes with certificates, eco-tours, separately for boys and girls, have also been conducted for the winners. Similar programme will be conducted during 2019-2020.
Under this scheme, to encourage the students, for fruitful involvement in Environmental related activities and to keep the school premises green and clean, the Government have sanctioned a sum of 144.00 lakh for Tree Plantation and maintenance in 960 Eco clubs and NGC at schools, at the rate of 30 schools per district, in all the 32 Districts of the State. A sum of Rs.5,000/- per school have been distributed till date. Further, Incentives and Certificates shall be issued to the students who have been involved in this programme. This programme is extended to another 960 school for 2018-19.The Programme has been extended for the year 2019 and action is being taken to release the amount.
Under this programme, 57 EIDCs (Environmental Information Dissemination Centre) of schools have been linked to the Department of Environment Server at a cost of Rs.14.44 lakh during 2016-2017 to facilitate the students to interact with the Experts during the green days celebrations regularly. During the year 2019, 12 EIDCs will be linked to the Department Server.
